[01] With the support of the Embassy of Austria, an exhibition has brought together 50 talented artists, each presenting a unique 37 x 33 centimeters portrait starting from February 8. The works offer an exciting blend of styles, expressions, and perspectives. Highlighting both Chinese and international artists, the exhibition celebrates diversity, artistic innovation, and the importance of gender balance, showcasing a vibrant mixture of voices from artists at all stages of their careers. Christina Gschwantner’s paintings have debuted in China. Her abstract work is rooted in her previous focus on painting “stranger creatures, peculiar beings, and picturesque figures.” Bianca Regl thinks the strength of art lies in its openness to various interpretations. Her wet-in-wet technique builds pressure with size, creating dynamics between large and small canvases. In Laura Raimo’s works, the artist focuses on self-reflection, inspired by the people surrounding her. Her paintings are sometimes storytelling, sometimes portraits depicting emotional situations, feelings, and personal experiences, dreams and nightmares, which she turns into vivid scenes. Built on layers of texture and emotion, her painting process is deeply personal. [02] Nikolaus Ellrodt: The 8th artis of "37 x 33 cm - the fourth" is : Marie-Therese Heublein (b.1997, Germany) is an artist who bridges the digital and physical realms. With a BA from the University of Applied Sciences, Munich, and an MA from the University of the Arts London, her work explores how digital technology influences our perception of the human body. Her paintings blend the digital and physical, presenting the body as a malleable surface. Influenced by Baroque pathos and virtual environments, she combines digital 3D modeling and traditional oil painting. Her art reflects a dynamic interplay of dissolution and growth, offering a fragmented yet cohesive view of contemporary existence. Despite uncertainties about the environment and future, Heublein's work remains optimistic, suggesting alternative futures with imagination and curiosity. Her first solo exhibition was held in 2024 at Swanfall Art in London.
